Relate NI has been providing expert relationship support to people across Northern Ireland for over 70 years. As an agency we are a member of British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP) and adhere to their ethical guidelines.
We have a multidisciplinary team, each trained to a high level, with expertise across a range of areas including relationship experts, family practitioners, Art Therapists, Music Therapists, play therapists and accredited counsellors. All are qualified from a recognised and validating organisation.
Practitioners hold or are working towards accreditation with their relevant Professional body such as BACP, Irish Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (IACP), Professional Standards Agency (PSA), Health Care Professions Council (HCPC).
In the initial session, the therapist will support you in identifying the area you would like to address and what the best approach for you is to move forward.
If you decide counselling is the way forward for you, you will embark on a series of time limited counselling sessions – anything between four and twelve sessions is normal, but it will depend on the issues you are experiencing.
Relate NI counselling is confidential and is carried out within strict professional boundaries. We keep brief, factual records securely stored for a limited period and then destroyed. Our management information systems comply with Data Protection Regulations and all records on the system are anonymised.
There are certain circumstances in which a counsellor may be under a legal or ethical duty to disclose information. These exceptional circumstances are in place to ensure your safety, the safety of others and to comply with legislation. We will always seek to inform you before the information is disclosed.
